The average employer reviews a resume for only six to seven seconds. Think about that for a minute, wait the employer doesn't even take that long! So what does that mean? It means that you have to impress/capture the attention of a potential employer immediately. Let's be honest here, most of us do not enjoy reading a long resume. As an employer once told me"When a resume is too long, I simply check out and place it at the bottom of the pile. I want to know what you can do for me and how long you've been doing it?" The truth is we've become a society of limited patience and even shorter attention span, so we have to be quick with our words. Remember this when writing your objective statement, quick words or phrases such as "Championed, Created, or Developed" allows an employer to know that you've led an initiative. Let's stay away from the objective paragraph, it's only supposed to be a statement. Quick and simple is the way most employers like it and if were being honest so do we.
